Sara Hughes

Sara Elizabeth Hughes, born on February 14, 1995, in Long Beach, California, stands at 178 cm (5ft 10in), is a dynamic American beach volleyball player known for her speed and tenacity on the sand. Partnering with Kelly Claes at USC, Sara secured back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2016 and 2017. Transitioning professionally, she achieved notable success, including six AVP Pro Tour wins and medals on the FIVB World Tour. Sara represented the United States at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics, embodying a legacy of passion and excellence as a proud Mikasa ambassador.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

2013 - 2017 Hughes began playing volleyball at the University of Southern California. For three seasons, she was paired up with Kelly Cheng. In 2016 they won first ever NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship.
2020 - 2021 Hughes Qualified and featured at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, while also receiving Gold medals at the 2021 World Tour in Sochi, Russia and at the 2021 World Tour in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
2022 - 2023 Hughes and her partner Kelly Cheng received Gold medals at both the 2022 World Tour Finals in Doha, Qatar as well as the 2023 World Championships held in Tlaxcala, Mexico.
2024 Hughes and partner Kelly Cheng received Gold medals at the World Tour in Ostrava, and, Qualified and featured at the 2024 Paris Olympics
